Daddy’s Braggings…

In this month’s blog, I wanna pay special honor to our (and God's) daughter, Abby, as it's her 9th birthday in September. Here's why specifically... When the car accident happened 7½ years ago, the vehicle flipped 5 times, crossed a median, and was hit by an on-coming tractor trailer truck.

But Abby did not even suffer a scratch; in fact, at 15 months old, she didn't even whimper a cry, but witnesses say she just quietly looked around. Suffice it to say, she was covered by a solid car seat, and the solid, gracious, and mighty hand of the living God… the One who is our shield and fortress, under whose wings we take safe refuge (Gen. 15:1; Ps. 46:1; Ruth 2:12).

(I do acknowlede that the "mysteries of God" are "higher than the heavens" [Job 11:7-8]; so I certainly don't presume to understand any of them!)

It amazed people, of course, when I sat up in my hospital bed a few weeks later, and was talking about Jeremiah 29:11, at a time when I couldn't remember my own name. You see, God had His active Word (Heb. 4:12) in my heart and on my mind.  I believe that verse's fulfillment may play out in the lives of all of God's children at various points as well... and it certainly was indicative of Abby's bright, God-planned future!

Well, I would need more "bandwidth" on this site if I fully bragged on Abby, or even just talked about the awesome big sister she is or the source of joy she is to us all... but I wanna close with this final point:

My love for my kids is fractional compared to our heavenly Father's all-consuming, sacrificial, everlasting love for us, His precious children (Matt. 7:11; 1 John 3:1)!
